I waited a year or so to write this review, because I wanted to test the performance of the barrel and complete upper before I wrote anything. I built my carbine with an Anderson lower I picked up locally. I have ran this thing hard, going to several carbine classes and weekly range trips. I ran it dry for the most part and zero malfunctions after about 3000 rnds. The barrel and complete upper paired up perfectly. I also have a bcm upper and I prefer my Anderson paired with the free float I’m running with it. My wife and I have also have plinked 8″ steel from 400yrds with federal imdependance 556.
All and all I love my rifle
    Thanks Anderson

Love my lower, was wondering before i purchase this, is this a 5.56 upper?

    • Yes Sir

This upper and barrel looks like a fantastic deal, highly considering this for my Ar, was curious is this a straight 5.56 chamber or the .223 Wylde?

    • 5.56

Where can I find specs for the barrel and bolt carrier group?

    • What Specs are you needing?

  5. 3 out of 5

Is this barrel a carbine length gas system?

    • Yes Sir

  6. 3 out of 5

Can I get this upper & 16 inch barrel with a mid length gas system ?

  7. 5 out of 5

I built a SBR with Sig Brace for my Wife using an Anderson stripped lower, an Anderson FCG parts kit, an Anderson 10.5″ RF85 upper, a recoil reducing / sound projecting muzzle break, a rubber coated Hogue grip and a Crosshair hydraulic buffer.

The completed SBR is smooth, accurate, and light, enabling my Wife (a 5′ tall stick figure) to wield the weapon like a Soldier. The muzzle barely moves when the SBR is fired.

Definitely worth the $$ / totally sold on the Anderson RF85 line up.

Can you add a piston system with this complete upper. Or do you not recommend that. Also, I am new to these but pretty handy, what else would I need for the assembly. Would the parts from my approx 10.5 barrel for this, ie heat shield and gas tube. Thank you. Its my Dads gun the upper at present not running smooth. Would like to start with new. Its an Anderson lower in 556/223′

    • No we do not

What is the life for a RF85 treated barrel?

    • With an RF85 barrel you are doubling the life of the barrel.
you should be able to shoot 15k rounds before there is an affect on the rifling.

Does this use the same BCG as the EXT-16-M4-RF, which has a much more extensive description (see below)?

M16 Carrier is Chrome Lined, made from 8620 steel, Bolt is made from 9310 steel and coated per mil spec. MPI Tested. The 223 Bolt and Bolt Carrier Assembly comes complete with Cam Pin, Firing Pin and Firing Pin Retainer and Standard Charging Handle.

    • Yes it is the same BCG.

Do you still have to buy a gas block with this kit?

    • Yes you would.

  14. 4 out of 5

Is this BCG RF85 treated or is it Chrome Lined? Confused by this post and the answer provided.

When do you expect these to be in stock again?

What pieces would I need to complete the gas system on this setup?

    • Free float forearm kit

  17. 4 out of 5

So in order to make this a complete upper, it needs the gas system, forearm kit and flash hider, right?

    • Correct

  18. 5 out of 5

Does this kit include the barrel bolt?

    • Yes Sir

I stripped and cleaned all the parts bone dry (married to an RF85 lower). Shot it for the first time today. Flawless function with zero malfunctions after about 200 rounds bone DRY. The M4 contour barrel held about 1/4 – 1/2 groups at about 30 yards (all the room I had) with an Eotec. I put a nice trigger in it, Anderson free float hand guard and a muzzle break. All my mates at training were amazed and 2 asked if I will build them one 2 others want more info. The RF85 is legit and the machining of the parts was tight and milspec (all milspec after market parts went in without any problem), zero play between the upper and lower.

  20. 4 out of 5

This doesn’t include a barrel nut?

    • No Sir

  21. 5 out of 5

Do you all offer a stripped RF85 lower?
Also if I purchase a complete upper can I have parts removed like the flashhider etc at a discounted price?

    • Sorry not at this time

how long is the gas tube?

Is the barrel chambered for a 556 NATO only or is it for both 223/556

    • this is chambered 5.56

Can I purchase the RF85 treated BCG only?

    • sorry no at this time
