I have right at 500 rounds through this barrel on a build. It has proven to be very accurate with bullet weights ranging from 50gr up to 69gr SMK’s. I shoot mostly 55gr plinking loads through it with Hornady FMJ-BT bullets that I load myself and it gives me MOA groups at 100 yards easily.

I had one small issue with it that prevents me from giving it a full five-star review, and that was that the left side feed ramp on the barrel extension wasn’t machined correctly. I tried it in three different stripped uppers to check, and in all three, the left side feed ramp extended up above the feed ramps in the uppers (All M4 profile, one billet, two forged) enough that the tip of the FMJ bullet would hit it and stop dead. I dremeled the barrel extension feed ramp down to match the right side, line up with the ramp in the upper and polished both sides and no more feed problems.

I would not hesitate to purchase another of these barrels in the future.

I bought one of these for my first ever build. All I can say is “Perfect!” I had zero problems with this barrel. I have put over 500 rounds through it, accuracy is very good with that cheap .223 Tulammo. I have not had one issue with it at all and highly recommend it. You can`t beat it for the price. I will be buying another one very soon!

I bought two of these barrels, one for me and one for a buddy’s build. I built mine first, and steel case ammo wouldn’t extract out of the chamber. I dissembled, took some fine steel wool on the end of a small drill bit, and some lube and polished out the chamber. Bingo, everything cycles perfectly. So for my buddy’s build, I just did the same thing before assembly and it cycles all ammo as well. I plan on purchasing another of these barrels as it fires very accurately, and has the 1/8 twist I prefer. I will polish the chamber on the next barrel I receive before assembly, just to ensure full extraction of spent rounds.

I’m sorry for the late review – I’ve been meaning to log in and write it now for a few weeks. It’s been a REALLY hot summer here up in the mountains and been difficult enough just to get through each day.

I ordered this barrel last June during the Fathers Day sale. It was the very last part I needed to complete the rifle I had spent 1½ years building. Well Anderson – all I can say is THANK YOU! I held out and was patient to get a 1:8 twist barrel. I couldn’t be more pleased. The match up with the feed ramps in my PSA upper receiver really was so perfect that even when I ran a toothpick tip across the line up I could’t feel any touch at the line up spots. I only have 40 rounds through the rifle – 5 rounds I used to sight in my red/green dot sight and 5 rounds for my iron sights. Then 30 rounds of some target practice. I don’t have a lot of ammo and can’t right now afford a lot of ammo but the barrel functions flawlessly. Grouping at 100 yards with the A.R.M.S flip up sights was within 1 MOA. The inexpensive red/green dot fared worse – that though is because it is an inexpensive sight, Certainly not a barrel issue as the iron sights proved. Folks – you did a magnificent job with the machining of this barrel. You need to get some of them in Gunstruction also. I’m really glad to see some of your parts there now. If you might be able to, do you think you could make a 9″ barrel chambered for 7.62×39? I’d like to put your Knight Stalker flash suppressor on it and get one of your upper receivers to mate with your stripped lower receiver I bought a couple months ago and picked up from my FFL today. It’s sitting here next to my computer on the table now. I am going to build a 7.62×39 AR pistol with it. I’d love to get most of the parts to do so from you. I think your products are superb and you make them at a really affordable and decent price. I am proud to be one of your customers and am very happy to be honestly able give you this 5 star rating on this barrel. I’m certainly looking forward to my 7.62×39 build with your lower receiver!

I used 2 of these for mine and a buddys. Finish was great and both barrels took everything from crap steel ammo to good quality brass. We both were pleased for the price!

Received my order today and very quickly too. It looks flawless! I was very impressed and I can’t wait to fire the ol gal at the range once my build is complete.

  10. 5 out of 5

Very impressive barrel for the price, did a complete AM build with this barrel and was very pleased with the results at the range at 100 yards. It was pretty much dead on accurate with 60 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip rounds. Will be using this barrel again. Thanks AM for providing hard working Americans with a quality product at a great price.

  12. 5 out of 5

Bought this barrel with caution because I thought it would be poor quality. I was wrong…absolutely no issues with the barrel. Very accurate, machines properly with proper headspace. I’ll be buying another soon for my 2nd ar build.

  13. 5 out of 5

After receiving an out of spec barrel I contacted Anderson about the issue. They replaced the barrel with one that far exceeded my expectations of an $82 barrel. Thank you very much. I will use these again.

  14. 5 out of 5

Gonna rate five stars… Best priced barrel…. Looks great. Clear sharp stamps.
Feed ramps flawlessly aligned with the upper I used.
Have not fired the rifle yet, I’ll update when I can.

I really appreciate Anderson parts. This is my first barrel from Anderson, I’m confident that it will perform well.

Plan on buying a pistol barrel.

I have your AM15 lower, M4 style complete upper w/ deflector/forward assist/dust cover, this specific barrel, A2 carbine barrel nut set & hand guard, nickel boron bcg, and gas tube. I am using the A2 front site post w/ gas ports I got from a friend. I just ordered your carry handle with rear sight built-in. I am currently borrowing a friends carry handle and I shot 75 rounds the first time out to the range. I was shooting high at 100 and on the steel target at 600 yards with a few minor adjustments to the front sight only!! I would consider that amazing for iron sights and I would not expect that from a store-bought rifle without all the bells and whistles like a match grade barrel and all that expensive stuff. I also had zero feeding issues, malfunctions, cycling/tuning problems and other issues that can plague an AR. I did not have to use the forward assist a single time using both .223 and Nato 55.6, 55 grain, FMJ. When I get my carry handle (which is fast from y’all) I will tune with paper targets at 600-750 yards and iron sights. Thank you for the high quality at a good price! I will tell everyone I serve/shoot with and help promote. Hopefully this help you keep costs down. I am not surprised this barrel is currently out of stock as I type this message. Keep up the amazing job!

Ordered this barrel and had it 4 days later bolted it on took her for a test run and this thing is sweet! I would recommend this barrel to anyone and will be buying a second one soon

  17. 5 out of 5

The barrel looks great and for a really good price. Haven’t put any rounds down range yet but wanted to also say that the customer service was fantastic. I had a faulty compensator shipped to me and I called to see what they would do and they sent me another out within days. I can’t wait to shoot it. I will be buying from Anderson again for sure.

  18. 4 out of 5

I give this barrel 4 stars because it feeds reliable. Only qualm i have is the cuts On the feed ramps gouge bullets considerably. Quick fix was some 320 grit very slight polish of the areas where the bullets rubbed, and no more gouging. Things like that are fun to me. Thank for for a decent barrel at a great price. Will be buying more if they prove to be accurate enough.

  19. 5 out of 5

Update to my previous review. The rifle that I built with this barrel is the most accurate of the AR15s that I’ve got. It is slightly better than another rifle with an FN barrel that cost three times as much.

I’m considering building a .300Blk upper and will probably look to Anderson for the barrel.

Received my Barrel to day assembled the upper could not be happier

very accurate barrel using 556 55 or 62 gn FMJ tested. I have had excellent results with this barrel. I WILL buy more.

  22. 5 out of 5

I got 2 barrels and that are tight fit in my upper but it all works good when out together.. I give 5 stars… they work great in all my uppers and perform great when tested in water sand and mud..

  25. 5 out of 5

Awesome barrel! Built my M4 style carbine and the finish, feed ramps and all are great! Accuracy with .223 55 grain is not a problem as some has said. Have not tried it yet with .62 gr.

  26. 4 out of 5

I bought this barrel on sale from another supplier a couple months ago…along with an Anderson stripped upper and an upper parts kit…I finished the build with a set of Magpul sights and took it to the range…started at 25 yards…the thing was dead nuts on bulls eye right out of the box no adjustments needed…moved the target out to 100 yards…bulls eye….then set some clays out at 100 yards….picked them off no problem then started shooting the pieces I could see….never had an AR build be so good right out of the box like that…my reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the stamping has some areas where there is no finish in the lettering..really no big deal….I’ve built a few AR 15s and this one really surprised me…I’m really happy with the barrel…money ($79) well spent…

  27. 5 out of 5

Finished my first build today with this barrel…. Absolutely fantastic! Deadly accurate with all types of ammo( tried 10 kinds) would recommend to anyone!

Just received this barrel, so happy with my purchase. I’ve built several ARs two of which I used Anderson Rifles (this one and a 7.5″ 300BLK), they are wonderful barrels at incredible prices. Customer service is good as well. I will do business with them again.

  29. 5 out of 5

Great barrel but feed ramps where a little off but with little work it came out dead on and i polished the hell out them because why not …… 500rds strong and at 300 yard it does very well and that was obtain with the mag pul pro flip up sights.

  30. 5 out of 5

I’ve bought 3 of these for myself and friends. They shoot great. Ive yet to find cheaper. Perfect for a budget build. I use Anderson’s 300 blackout barrel also. Both great barrels

  31. 5 out of 5

Does this barrel have the rf85 coating?

    • No it does not

  32. 5 out of 5

Mated up with Anderson upper. Infact I would say I assembled nearly the whole rifle from Anderson. Freel floated this barrel. M4 cuts match well. Accuracy is as good as I can shoot. Only running brass. Quality seems good. Haven’t read any hardness test reviews yet. I will get another

  33. 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed this barrel. Had one small issue before functioning properly. The cahmber had a decent amount of machining marks inside and wouldn’t allow the spent shell to extract consistently(had to polish the chamber and took it to the local shop where i purchased it to make sure it was ok). After that it shoots flawlessly with your m4 upper and and bolt assembly. Thanks!

I just brought a used ar15 ati omni hybrid maxx limited in 5.56 it has the poly upper and lower.
it seems the last owner had put in a anderson 1-8 16 inch barrel. 4150 chromoly.
the ar also has a windham bolt carrier in the upper. the barrel is awesome..

  35. 5 out of 5

This barrel shoots half inch at 100 yards with 55gr austrailian outback blitz king out of aero ar15. Have hit the same bullet holes but im getting old .The barrel is well worth the money.Got some that cost more but dont shoot any better. It hits better than I can shoot.

  36. 5 out of 5

Dose this barrel come with the gas system

    • No Sir

  37. 5 out of 5

The barrel is stamped 5.56 nato. Which is safe to shoot the 5.56 and also the .223 ammunition correct ?

    • yes that is correct

  38. 5 out of 5

I bought two barrels and I can’t say how pleased I am to buy a quality barrel for a very reasonable price. Bought a stainless steel barrel form Thunderguns and I was completely disappointed. Shot 3 inch groups with that barrel the first time out, and then it spread out to 8 inches. Very inconsistent. But with Anderson, you can’t go wrong. Thanks for a great barrel and a very reasonable price.

  39. 5 out of 5

Does this have set screws so I can put a low profile gas block on it

    • the barrel does not

if you order a gas block it will come with screws

  40. 5 out of 5

Does this barrel have 2 holes drilled for the standard front sight/gas block?

    • No there are no holes drilled for the gas blocks

  41. 5 out of 5

Outstanding barrel at a great price!! nice groups with 55 gr handloads and nice tight groups with 62 gr green tips FMJ. For the the amount of money , you cannot find a better barrel at this $$$.

    • This is our best selling barrel.
      Thank you

  42. 4 out of 5

Is this the barrel on the AM-15 Optics Ready carbine? If yes, I see many reviews here claiming getting in the 1 MOA range. I am an experience shooter that can get 1/3 MOA with other rifles. Through about 200 rounds the best I can do is about 2 MOA with my new AM-15. Have used a selection of ammo types 223 and 5.56. The 2 inch groups are with 223 match ammo. Any thoughts?

    • Yes this is same barrel used on the optic Ready Firearm.

when did you buy the barrel?
      What was your order number?
