Words can’t express how impressive the quality and craftsmanship of Anderson Manufacturing parts are. I purchased this 7.62×39 barrel with an AM stripped upper receiver, along with the necessary smaller parts to complete the upper. i wish they had 7.62×39 Bolts for the carrier, but don’t want to digress…. I completed the upper and strapped it to a lower from an existing rifle, then I took a scope off of a second rifle (5.56) that was already sited in for that setup. i threw scope on the 7.62×39 upper in a comfortable position, function checked the rifle, went to the range to throw some lead to see how this setup was going to work. The first shot, set the crosses dead center of target, and hoping to get on paper to see where I was. Squeezed the trigger, looked for a hole on the paper, and couldn’t believe my eyes. Dead Center! This has to be luck i said, squeezed off 8 more rounds (Tulo Steel & Brass). lets just say, bring your sewing needle, i was clearing a ragged hole in the center of the paper. I have seen the light, and converted my faith to Anderson Manufacturing.

I bought this barrel to complete an Anderson upper build. it has a fine finish and a crisp clean bore. I haven’t fired it yet because I’m waiting on a 7.62×39 bolt from another source. Anderson is my ‘go to’ supplier for all my AR builds. Don’t hesitate to purchase all your parts here. One stop shopping.

After my first success of building a reliable, functional 7.62×39 using Anderson Manufacturing Barrel, and Upper receiver and parts, I came back and bought several more barrels and parts from AM, wanted to go as close to 100% of AM parts that I could. The quality, fit & finish was perfect, and the performance of the finished builds were flawless. For a successful 7.62×39 build, stick with AM parts; don’t be the “Disappointing Rob Lowe” and go with the “other guy”.

After getting this build finished, I can’t help but feel 7.62×39 is a better round for the ar platform than 5.56×45 all of my AM parts made it one of the easiest builds I’ve done,as always fit finish quality are superb.

This barrel is the greatest, Varder, the rater from above lent me his target that he used, I put that target out to 600 yards, looking to repete his barrel performance 6X. I put 100 shots right thew the hole he made at 100 yards!!! All I can say there barrels get better by the day

Loving this barrel! You guys did an awesome job! I can’t wait to take this baby deer hunting next month. Ragged hole with factory FMJ Winchesters. Gonna see what I can do with some reloads soon. Thanks guys!

I built an upper for my grandson with all parts from Anderson except for the FF rail. I put a 6X24 Elite Bushnell scope on it for accuracy testing. The ammo was handloaded 123 gr V-Max’s and H335. After sighting in at 100 yards we shot 3 straight 3 shot groups under 3/4″. The barrel has less than 20 shots down it. It shoots better than my YHM 20″ bull barrel that cost twice as much.

Wife and I built a 7.62×39 AR with Anderson/Magpul parts including this barrel. We found the Anderson bcg at PA to make it all Anderson. The gun shot great and had none of the problems that many on the internet say is common with this caliber of AR. Thanks Anderson, Great job.

Incredible!! Bought this barrel for my son in laws build. Got the upper done today, and mounted a Redfield Counterstrike red/green dot sight on it, and took it out for testing. I could not believe the accuracy of this barrel. We shot a one inch group at a hundred yards, using Wolf WPA steel cased ammo, with a red dot sight, with our bad eyes!! Point of impact didn’t change from the first shot to the last. No stringing, just dead on accuracy from start to finish. We were hitting very small spots of snow on a hillside, off hand at 200yrds. Just point and shoot. This barrel deserves a scope, not a red dot. This has got to be one the top best rifles I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. We didn’t want to stop shooting it, but we ran out of the 100rnds we had for testing (sigh).. For the price, I don’t think you could possibly beat this barrel. Great Product!!!

Awsome barrel after zeroing can shoot a 5/8in target dot at 50 yards every time 3 shot groups inside the dot every time with irons so this barrel is the best I own by far.

    • keep shooting.
      Thanks

I agree, the Anderson AR in 7.62×39 is much more versatile then the usual .223. I’d like to build some custom reloads for my Anderson, can you tell me which would be better for the actual bore size: a true 7.62 bullet, or a .311 or .312 as seen in some reloading tables?

Excellent Barrel. Mated up with an AIM bolt perfectly. Uses C-Products 28 round GI mags with zero fails.

I could not be happier with this barrel. Because I will be reloading, it would be good to know if the boar is 308 or 310 cal. At present the enhanced firing pin alone is not reliable for com. bloc. ammo. Wolf enhanced hammer spring is on order for a dedicated lower build (Anderson lower of course). All reloads and brass factory have functioned without any problems.

    gooday,

please excuse my ignorance, but does this calibre in the AM format utilize the same magazine as the 6.5 grendel?

Have used Anderson parts on several builds, and have just finished a 7.62×39. Can you verify the bore on this barrel 308 or 311 so that I can order the proper components for reloading. Thanks in advance and really appreciate your products.

    • The bore is 311

    • sorry we may have forgot to laser engrave the barrel
      sorry about that

Will this barrel work for 7.62×40mm Wilson Tactical build instead of 7.62x39mm russian build and use standard AR15 mags?

    • We are not sure.
we recommend you check with Wilson Combat on this one.

I picked up an Anderson stripped lower at a local gun shop. I already have a 5.56 AR so I was looking to build something else in a larger caliber. The 7.62 x 39 met all of my criteria… 30 caliber round, availability and cost of ammo and above all RELIABLE. I did some research on this platform and saw that some people had issues but most are due to lack of research. I purchased this barrel as well as Andersons matching Bolt Carrier Group, Upper receiver and Adjustable Gas block. The only “upgrade” to these parts was the addition of an Enhanced firing pin to address light hammer strikes when using cheap steal case ammo with hard primers. I have kids of varying ages and this platform just makes sense in regards to “One Size Fits All”. That is why this rifle is so popular and our sport is growing. Shooting is something all of my family enjoys.
